Project Eliminates Over $2.4 Million in Medical Debt

From March 1, 2023 – December 31, 2025

The SafetyWeb Network for Free & Charitable Clinics continues to elevate patient services and help reduce avoidable medical debts. Our partnership continues to thrive at serving patients in need and connecting them and other family members to health coverage and care. The collaboration is a game-changing project that links clinics to ABC for Health’s direct legal services and technology.

Together, ABC for Health, Inc., the WI Association of Free and Charitable Clinics, technology partner My Coverage Plan, Inc., outreach and education specialists at HealthWatch Wisconsin, and 9 participating clinics, including Good Neighbor Clinic, serve low-income, uninsured, or underinsured patients who face legal and administrative obstacles to health coverage and care.

We help identify and serve patients of free and charitable clinics that need enrollment assistance for Medicaid, health coverage, insurance programs, or other community resources. With support, we help reduce patient knowledge barriers, access challenges, and other bureaucratic red tape. In the project overall, 1837 patients and family members have been served, 53% are Spanish-speaking families, ~63% of families are under 100% of the Federal Poverty Level or have no income, and of the over $3.58 million in disclosed medical debt, the project has been able to eliminate $2.4 million of that to date. Below is a snapshot of Good Neighbor Clinic patient referral data since the first patient was referred in March 2023:
